AI tutor · Ages 5–7 · In development
PrimerBot is designed to find what your child already knows, spot the gaps, and adapt every session to teach what comes next. Every lesson is built by reading experts. Every path is built for one child.

Why reading first
Learning to read opens up every other subject. Yet in 2024, 40% of U.S. fourth graders read below the NAEP Basic level.1
One-on-one tutoring is one of the most reliable ways to help. A review of dozens of randomized tutoring studies found consistent, substantial gains, with reading tutoring especially effective in the early grades.2 But a tutor every day has never been realistic for most families.
So we're building an AI tutor for every child: one that learns how your child reads and adapts every session to what they need next.
Inside a session
Each session is designed to last about 10 minutes and is led entirely by PrimerBot. It teaches, steps back so your child can read on their own, and adjusts to what just happened. There's nothing for you to prepare, and your child can stop any time.
PrimerBot shows each sound, looks at the letter it's teaching, and blends the sounds into a word with your child.

Research-backed. Built for one child.
Reading experts build and review what PrimerBot can teach. PrimerBot's AI decides, for your child, what to teach next, how to explain it, and when to step back and check.
That's what great tutors do: get to know the child, adjust, and let the child show what they know. We're building PrimerBot to do it in every session.
How PrimerBot tutorsWhere your child is, and what's next
In the first session, short, playful checks are designed to find your child's starting point. From there, PrimerBot moves at your child's pace, and you see the specific skills they can do on their own. No levels, no labels.
connects letters to the sounds they make
puts sounds together to read a short word
Our first releasedecodes words they haven't practiced, without hints
reads simple stories built from known sounds, and answers a question about them
longer texts, more sounds, more meaning
LaterOur first release focuses on milestones 2–4, for children who know at least some letter sounds.
For parents
PrimerBot teaches. You see the evidence. After each session you'll see what your child read on their own, what they read with help, and what PrimerBot will teach next. Anything it didn't hear clearly is flagged, never guessed.
PrimerBot leads every session. You just press start.
See what your child did on their own, kept separate from what they did with help.
See how they're moving along the reading path and what comes next.
Session: about 9 minutes
PrimerBot tells your child it's a computer helper for reading. It never asks personal questions or pretends to have feelings.
Your child can't have open-ended conversations with an AI. Every line PrimerBot says will be reviewed in advance.
Not now, not later.
unless you explicitly choose to allow it.
Parents set up and start sessions, and can delete their family's data at any time.
The bigger picture
Our vision is a tutor of their own for every child, across the foundational skills. We're starting with reading because everything else is built on it, and because one subject done well matters more than three done halfway.
Each subject will get its own curriculum, specialist review, and testing before it's released.
