AI that can listen and adapt
Speech recognition and AI are now capable and affordable enough to run a responsive, one-on-one session on an ordinary tablet.
Company
For most of history, a devoted one-on-one tutor was a privilege for the few. AI can bring one to every child. We're building it, starting with reading.
The vision
In Neal Stephenson's novel The Diamond Age, a young girl is given a book that learns who she is and teaches her for years, growing as she grows. That's the horizon we're building toward: a tutor that knows each child and helps them learn to read, then to write and do arithmetic, and eventually much more.
We're a long way from that. We're starting where every education starts: learning to read.
Each subject comes only after its own curriculum, expert review, and testing.
Why now
Speech recognition and AI are now capable and affordable enough to run a responsive, one-on-one session on an ordinary tablet.
Since 2013, 43 states and the District of Columbia have passed laws or policies on evidence-based reading instruction.1 PrimerBot is built on that instruction.
Every session is built around what your child needs next, and your child does the reading.
We separate what research supports, what we've built, and what we've measured, and we say which is which.
Nothing reaches children until it has passed our safety, privacy, and reading-expert reviews.
We'd rather get early reading right than offer everything halfway.
